Gulf Coast Organizing, Advocacy and Leadership Initiative (GOAL)
(formerly known as the Hurricane Katrina Initiative

 

Twenty-First Century Foundation's (21CF) Hurricane Katrina Initiative is now known as the Gulf Coast Organizing, Advocacy and Leadership Initiative (GOAL.)

The reason for the new name stems from our desire to more accurately reflect our work and commitment to the Gulf Coast.

A few of our notable accomplishments include:

From 2005-2007, 21CF made grants at the $10,000 level or under.
We have dedicated $100,000 (10 percent of our budgeted grantmaking resouces) towards a GOAL discretionary fund.
In December 2008, 21CF made 13 partner grants totaling $620,000 and an additional $90,000 grants.
We collaborated with Jewish Funds for Justice and the Gulf Coast Fund to form the Gulf Coast Fellowship for Community Transformation (GCFCT) which will support community organizers and leaders in the Gulf Coast. The first 17 fellows were selected earlier this year and awarded $20,000 per year for two-years terms.
