Operation Reach
ORI is a community education organization dedicated to providing quality educational programs opportunities for low-income children and families. It does this by providing high-quality, multi-site, community-based out of school programming and leadership development for under-resourced families in urban communities.

Lafayette Restoration Center
LRC is a multi-service mental health organization focused on assisting families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder in a culturally sensitive paradigm. In addition, LRC also addresses many of the multiple issues faced by these families such as employment readiness, counseling, transportation, education and community mobilization.

Grace Harbor Community Ministries
GHCM is committed to building a multi-purpose community center for the east and west banks of Lower Plaquemines Parish focused on economic and black leadership development. GHCM is a local leader and voice in influencing local recovery and rebuilding efforts for low and moderate income citizens.

Fredrick Douglass Community Coalition
The Coalition is focused on creating a “community schools” approach within Douglass High School and its feeder schools. Central to this understanding is developing a stronger connection to local community issues and actions. The Coalition has played a critical role in the re-opening of the school this past fall.

Family Foundation of Southwest Louisiana
The Family Foundation of SWLA will build the capacity of Black non profit leadership in Lake Charles to more fully engage in mission-based advocacy. In addition, the foundation will provide overall organizational development to promote the engagement and participation of Black leadership to be in a position to affect public policy on behalf of their communities.

Families & Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children
FFLIC engages in education, community building and leadership development through strategically chosen campaigns that empower individuals, families and communities to transform the current juvenile justice system and institutions negatively affecting Black children and youth within the context of rebuilding the Gulf Coast.

In Mississippi

NAACP of Mississippi
The Mission of the NAACP of Mississippi is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons. With more than 10,000 members and strong partnerships with local and statewide organizations, the NAACP has been instrumental in positively affecting the adoption and implementation of state priorities from housing and Community Development Block Grants to employment and overall Gulf Coast rebuilding.

Coastal Women for Change
CWC informs the broader Biloxi community and helps low-income residents, especially women, engage in local governmental and community decision-making processes related to re-building the Gulf Coast.
National Organizations

The Advancement Project
Advancement Project partners with grassroots organizations, providing them with legal advocacy and strategic communications assistance toward the elimination of structural racism. Since Hurricane Katrina, Advancement Project has filed several lawsuits to establish out-of-state polling places and to re-open public housing -- all to protect the rights of Hurricane Katrina survivors. Over the next year, Advancement Project will continue to secure the right to return for survivors, along with housing, education and employment opportunities.

Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
LCCRUL provides comprehensive legal support to local communities who are making strides to rebuild lives after the disaster with a special focus on affordable housing, healthcare, education, community preservation, legal assistance and advocacy.

Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference
The SDPC is a collection of over 1000 social justice-minded Black pastors who are committed to building national advocacy partnerships and amplifying the voices of families displaced by the Hurricanes. Specifically, SDPC is committed to putting a face of humanity on the disaster, breaking barriers of silence and building bridges for advocacy. The organization’s annual conference will take place in New Orleans in February 2007 which will bring resources to the region.

National Coalition on Black Civic Participation
NCBCP will empower Black women and youth to increase civic engagement in the Gulf Coast region through civic education, leadership development and public policy advocacy training to assure that their voices are heard at local, state and federal levels.

As we continue our grantmaking in the region, 21CF will stay true to its vision of equity and racial justice in the Gulf. And with your help, we will expand the impact of this strategy.
